Carlsbad Caverns National Park

“The elevators are broken; do you still want to go?” That’s how our trip to Carlsbad Caverns National Park started. The rest of the conversation went something like this, “Of course. We can’t not do it when we’re this close. Besides, we need the exercise since we haven’t been able to hike in a while!” “Really, Mama, how long will it be?” and so on. So, we went, we climbed, we got our Junior Ranger badges, and scored some marvelous exercise as well. Carlsbad Caverns really is a spectacular park to see, and surprisingly very different from our favorite cave from last year Mammoth Caves National Park in Kentucky. The best part? Well, each of us would have a different answer to that question, but without hesitation I can say that this Mama’s favorite part was the nice bathroom at the bottom, which came in very handy after a 45+ minute hike down into the cave with the promise of another couple of hours ahead. I was extremely thankful for that bathroom, but yes, we all loved the caverns as well. It really is outstanding the uniquely beautiful things on this planet of ours!
