Fort Clinch Fernandina Beach, FL

Growing up in Georgia, we took most of our family vacations to Florida, which means that now that we travel all over the country, we often take Florida’s beauty for granted. This fall, though, we were able to go back to one of our very favorite Florida spots for several weeks, and we were quickly reminded of how much we love Amelia Island and Fernandina Beach. If we’re not staying with friends there, we like to unhitch at Fort Clinch State Park, and this time we were able to try out both the River Campground and the Beach Campground (we loved both). Either way, we love the sand, surf, dolphin sightings, seashells, sweet little downtown and the low-key feel of it all. If you’re looking for a commercialized place, this won’t be your cup of tea, but for us, it’s perfect. Amelia has always been a special place for us, and I don’t see that changing any time soon.
