Georgia on My Mind

Continuing on our journey south for the winter, and trying to outrun the cold weather creeping down from the north, we passed through Charlotte, North Carolina. Our initial plan was to explore the city a bit, but we gave into road fatigue and just rested in the old Airstream at the Cabela’s parking lot (free overnight), after we found fresh “potable” drinking/shower/coffee-making water (which is always the biggest challenge of boondocking).

Then we headed through Columbia, South Carolina and crossed the border of our home state Georgia. We didn’t smell any peaches as we crossed and we didn’t see any watermelon rinds, but we felt the southern heat and jumped into the swimming pool as soon as we set up at the grandparents’ house.

We’re happy to be home with family for about 3 weeks – thankful for the rest, the cousins, the pumpkins, the fall family fun, the Chick-fil-A ice cream, and then… Texas, here we come!
