Tombstone, Arizona

When heading west through Arizona, how can you not stop by the infamous Tombstone? Having a stellar trip planner (Matthew) means that we knew just how to skip the touristy bits, and exactly where to go – The Tombstone Courthouse State Historic Park. After paying our small entry fee ($14 for the whole family), we received our Junior Ranger booklets and were off to explore the exhibits for a couple of hours. There was literally everything about the town inside, from the OK Corral to the gallows, the sheriff’s office to the saloon and gambling table. We were even able to learn all about how the town turned from a silver mining spot into a wild wild west shootout kind of place, and also investigate over 80 types of barb wire used back then. This was truly the perfect field trip day for our two wild little boys, and for us too.
